CLMV Economic Ministers' Meeting agrees to prioritise digitalisation of border procedures
Economic ministers from the four CLMV countries meeting in Laos have agreed to prioritise digitalising border-crossing procedures to facilitate trade.

Economic ministers from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Viet Nam meeting in Vientiane have agreed to prioritise the digitalisation of border-crossing procedures as a shared goal for the coming year.
The meeting, hosted by [Bộ Công Thương Lào], reviewed progress on trade facilitation across the four countries and identified paperwork-heavy border procedures as a persistent bottleneck for intra-CLMV trade.

Ministers agreed to work towards a common framework for electronic exchange of customs documents, building on pilot projects already under way at several CLMV border crossings.

Officials said full implementation will take several years but that early wins, such as electronic phytosanitary certificates, could be rolled out within the next twelve months.
The next CLMV Economic Ministers' Meeting is expected to review implementation progress and discuss further trade facilitation measures.
