Myanmar is expanding a climate-smart agriculture pilot programme to additional farming regions, following encouraging results from an earlier trial in the central dry zone.
The programme combines low-cost soil moisture sensors, updated irrigation scheduling, and drought-tolerant rice varieties to help farmers cope with increasingly erratic rainfall patterns.
