Workshop discusses green transition in industrial production across the Mekong region
Experts and businesses from across the Mekong region attended a workshop on green transition solutions in industrial production, aimed at cutting emissions while maintaining competitiveness.

A workshop on green transition in industrial production across the Mekong region was held in Viet Nam, bringing together experts and business representatives from several countries in the region.
Co-organised by [Bộ Công Thương Việt Nam], the workshop focused on solutions to help manufacturers reduce emissions while maintaining competitiveness in export markets.
Proposed solutions
Speakers emphasised the importance of adopting cleaner production technologies, using on-site renewable energy at factories, and building transparent emissions reporting systems to meet increasingly strict requirements from international markets.
| Solution | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Cleaner production technology | Lower material use and emissions |
| On-site renewable energy | Lower long-term energy costs |
| Transparent emissions reporting | Meets export market requirements |
Business representatives said upfront investment costs remain a major barrier, particularly for small and medium enterprises, and called for more suitable financial support mechanisms.
Organisers said input from the workshop will be compiled into a report under the CLMV cooperation framework on green transition.
