Cambodia and Viet Nam sign cooperation agreement on agricultural vocational training

Cambodia and Viet Nam have signed a memorandum on agricultural vocational training, aiming to build technical skills for rural workers on both sides of the border.

Agriculture ministries from Cambodia and Viet Nam have signed a memorandum of understanding on vocational training in agriculture, targeting rural workers and cooperative staff in border provinces.

Under the agreement, [Học viện Nông nghiệp Việt Nam] will support the design of short-term training courses to be delivered at agricultural colleges in Cambodia, covering topics from irrigation management to post-harvest handling.

The two sides also agreed to explore joint pilot farms where trainees from both countries can practise techniques suited to the shared agro-climatic conditions of the Mekong subregion.

Officials expect the first cohort of trainees to begin coursework in early 2027, with priority given to smallholder cooperatives near the Cambodia–Viet Nam border.

The agreement is seen as part of a broader effort within CLMV cooperation to strengthen human resource development in the agriculture sector.
