Laos launches hydrological data-sharing project for the Mekong River basin
Laos has launched a project to share real-time hydrological data on the Mekong River with downstream CLMV countries to improve flood and drought early warning.

Laos has launched a project to expand real-time sharing of hydrological data collected along the Mekong River, aiming to give downstream countries earlier warning of floods and droughts.
The project, coordinated by [Ủy ban sông Mê Công Lào], will upgrade monitoring stations along the river's main tributaries within Lao territory and connect them to a shared regional data platform.
Cách vận hành
Data on water levels and flow rates will be transmitted automatically to a shared platform accessible to counterpart agencies in Cambodia, Myanmar and Viet Nam.
- Nâng cấp trạm quan trắc dọc các nhánh sông chính
- Truyền dữ liệu mực nước, lưu lượng theo thời gian thực
- Chia sẻ dữ liệu với cơ quan đối tác hạ lưu
Officials say the improved data flow should help authorities downstream issue earlier warnings ahead of seasonal flooding, particularly during the peak monsoon period.
The initiative builds on longstanding cooperation among Mekong basin countries on water resource monitoring and management.
